Benefits of Using Coconut Wax in Your Candle-Making
Available in: chunks
Very low melting point: 31-38°C
Coconuts are produced from sustainable agriculture.
Non-GMO waxes, no additives, and not tested on animals.
This wax has a very low melting point. We recommend using it as massage wax or as an additive in a blend of waxes.
If you are making massage candles, which are designed to be used on the body, we suggest going with a blend of pure coconut candle wax (100% coconut), beeswax and then adding body care oils (such as grapeseed, castor, sweet almond, etc) and not go with a soy wax .
Ideal for those looking for a raw material option with ecological appeal for the manufacture of handmade candles, Coconut Wax is the ideal product. Indicated especially for the production of handmade candles that will be burned in containers ideally, it is considered an ecological wax, offering several benefits to those who use it. But why is coconut wax considered an eco-friendly product? And how is coconut wax made?
Its natural formulation of vegetal origin allows the coconut wax to offer, for its production of candles, a clean, odorless burn without the formation of soot, harming the environment less and at the same time offering possibilities of aromatic candles with accentuated perfumes, as it retains much more scented oils, whether synthetic or essential.
Another important point that we must emphasize is that its composition allows it to be mixed with several other types of natural waxes, even those with harder consistencies. This factor makes coconut wax present in the composition of various types of candles.
What wicks to use :
We recommend start with LX wicks . Follow the size recomendations in the LX info.
Also STABILO can be a good option . Follow the size recomendations in the STABILO info.
This is a very soft wax. The melting point can be as low as 31ºC. During summer time there might be temperature variations in the transport as the companies are not transporting these goods in refrigerating vans. We don't ship it on Fridays because we don't want the wax stored during the weekend in very warm places.
Practical Guide – Massage Candles with Pure Coconut Wax from EcoCandleProject
Massage candles combine aromatherapy and skincare, made with waxes and oils safe for direct application on the skin. Pure Coconut Wax with a low melting point is an ideal plant-based base due to this low melting point and its moisturizing properties.
Coconut Wax is a pure vegetable wax derived from coconut pulp (Cocos Nucifera), with a melting point between 31–38 °C. It has a creamy texture, soft touch, and is ideal for massage candles. It can be used pure or blended with butters and vegetable oils.
If using a harder coconut wax (like EcoCoco by Kerax), it is recommended to blend it with butters (e.g., shea, cocoa) or oils (sweet almond, jojoba) to lower the melting point and improve the skin application texture.
Melt the wax to 50–55 °C in a double boiler.
Remove from heat.
Add the fragrance (3–5%) and mix well.
Pour into containers and allow to solidify at room temperature.
Do not refrigerate.
⚠️ Note: For massage candles, the safe fragrance dosage is usually 1–3% of the total weight, depending on the formula and skin sensitivity. Avoid high concentrations like 8–10%, which are typical in standard candles.
Add fragrance at around 50 °C to ensure proper blending without aroma loss. Avoid adding it below 40 °C (risk of separation or poor yield) or above 55 °C (risk of excessive evaporation).
