For the time being, we are discontinuing S41, as our current supplier has stopped buying it due to a high price increase. We also find that we have found a better alternative which is Keragreen, also pure soy,  with better performances.

Note: S41 is prone to polymorphism, especially on resets, only managed through temperature control, or if you blend it with 30 - 50% mineral wax will eliminate the issue.

You don't need to do that with Keragreen.

Description

Golden Wax S41 is the 464 version made in Europe in Sweden and is a natural SOY WAX produced by global wax giant AAK under the Golden Brands name.

The Golden Wax S41 is based on the same oil as the 464 made in the USA but manufactured in a different way and without a botanical additive. It is however designed to offer the same functionality, which many customers can confirm and it's made in Sweden.

Originally developed for large candle producers, S41 offers a high fragrance retention, powerful hot throw, is extremely stable, easy to wick, and burns incredibly clean

The wax is Natural and Kosher. The lower melt point of this wax enables it to have improved jar adhesion and helps prevent wet spots. SUITABLE for container candles

  • Biodegradable
  • High Fragrance retention resulting in a great HT and CT ( hot and cold throw)
  • Natural, 100% GMO-free soybean
  • Devoid of toxic substances
  • Without synthetic additives

Next year all 464 and S41 for Europe will be made in Sweden.

Supplied in Pastilles.

Product Specifications

Very soft soybean wax that retains fragrance very, very well and burns very, very clean.

Like 464 and all soy waxes are prone to polymorphism on the resets, between burns, but we love its hot throw, stability, and ease of wicking.

This is the choice of many large manufacturers due to the related price/quality. You can blend it with mineral wax in a relation of 40%-50% if you prefer not to work with pure soy.

This premium botanical wax is ideal for use in container candles and wax melts.

Benefits

  • Reduced set-up time
  • Great mold release
  • Allow for vibrant colors
  • Create a fragrance throw comparable to paraffin
  • Compatible with standard candle-making equipment
  • Easily modified and combined with other waxes
  • Versatile and adaptable, for easily customizable blends

Color

Most dyes work with Golden Wax 494/S41 including powder, liquid, or our Bekro dyes. If you wish to make your wax darker, add a little black dye to the color you are using. To lighten use white dye.

Fragrances

Our testing has found this wax works well when heated to around 85°C with fragrance added at 70°C before being poured slowly into warmed glassware immediately after stirring. The wax will hold 10% + of most fragrances, although 7-8% is usually more than enough.

Melting

With a melting point of 45ºC-48ºC, it could be heated to 80ºC-85ºC. For us, this has resulted in smooth tops and perfect adhesion in clear glassware.

Pouring

Pour temperature suggested: 30-40ºC. Please note however the ideal pouring temperature may vary depending on container size and room temperature therefore proper testing in small batches is always recommended and our testing cannot take the place of your own testing.

Cooling

This wax benefits from a slow cool to help reduce the likelihood of polymorphism/frosting. This wax is prone to circular surface cracking, but this can usually be reduced/eliminated by good temperature control.

Cure time

We would suggest a cure time of 10-14 days before burning.

Recommendations

  • CL, Stabilo, and VRL wicks tend to work best in this wax, with a 30cl candle requiring a CL17/CL18 or Stabilo 16/18. This will depend on the % of fragrance used and with or without pigments/dyes.

As ever, a warm ambient temperature (20ºC), warm glassware, and the prevention of rapid temperature changes during cooling will reduce the likelihood of polymorphism/frosting.

The best pouring temperature is rather cold, at around 30ºC-40ºC

But always ajust your pouring temperature with the room temperature

This wax is prone to circular surface cracking, but this can usually be reduced/eliminated by good temperature control. It has a very beautiful, smooth finish.

Golden Wax S41 holds lots of fragrance, but even better, it throws fragrance very well. There are other soy waxes that hold as much, but we've found that if you put the S41 up against other waxes - all with the same amount of fragrance - you get the best fragrance throw with the S41

S41 is prone to polymorphism ( frosting ), especially on resets; but the hot throw, stability, and ease of wicking more than compensate for this.

S41 is manufactured in Sweden at the AAKs Karlshamn plant.  Having originally been developed for large candle producers, the wax is supplied in 25kg block format but we are supplying it in pastilles to be easy to use.
