  • What is a nature-identical substance?

A nature-identical substance is a synthetic compound that is designed to replicate the chemical structure and properties of a natural substance. This means that although it is not derived from a natural source, it is chemically identical to the substance found in nature. An example of a nature-identical substance is vitamin C, which can be produced synthetically but is chemically identical to the vitamin C found in oranges.

In some cases, nature-identical substances may be preferred over natural substances due to their purity and consistency. For instance, some natural substances may contain impurities or contaminants that could be harmful if ingested or applied topically. Nature-identical substances, on the other hand, are produced under controlled conditions and are typically free of impurities.
