Augeo Multi-Clean is a solvent made from a renewable source. With excellent solubilizing power, low evaporation rate, and low odor, Augeo is an excellent reed diffuser base. Unlike DPM and other diffuser bases, Augeo evaporates fully and does not have the metallic odour associated with other base materials.
Augeo® is considered an excellent diffuser base, with no inhalation or respiratory toxicity, even for long exposure periods.
It is classified as low vapor pressure VOC and has a very low odor and adequate evaporation rate guaranteeing fragrance enhancement, and a low carbon footprint. As a high-performance bio-based solvent is nontoxic for humans and the environment, providing efficient cleaning and active solvency power for homecare being globally used in fragrance dilution and air care products. It has features that enable its application as a carrier and/or diluent for fragrances, reinforcing the odor and extending the air freshener's fragrance. It’s also long-lasting, optimizing the sensorial experience of the final consumer. According to TSCA, REACH, IECSC, IFRA, INSQ
Supplied in white HPDE bottle
The Augeo reed diffuser base is a state-of-the-art diffuser base pioneered using innovative technology and is in our opinion the best base on the market today.
The main raw material for its production is glycerin, a by-product from Biodiesel production, having soya as the main source, which makes its molecular weight 70% renewable, and also results in a carbon footprint up to 40% lower than the glycol ethers it can replace, such as DPG, DPM, and DPMA. Unlike DPM and other diffuser bases.
Augeo® is safe regarding inhalation or respiratory toxicity, even for long exposure periods. It is classified as low vapor pressure VOC, and its very low odor and adequate evaporation rate guarantee fragrance enhancement. It’s also long-lasting, optimizing the sensorial experience of the final consumer. According to TSCA, REACH, IECSC, IFRA, INSQ
In addition, if you plan to export your diffusers to the US, base materials can often be problematic; but not this material. Augeo is fully compliant with CARB Regulations in the USA, meaning it is not classed as VOC (vapor pressure below 0.1 mg Hg). This means that Augeo does not contribute to the VOC content of the final product, which was 18% at the time of writing. This allows for high levels of scent loading (15-20%) without breaching CARB regulations.
Augeo works extremely well with synthetic reeds in diffusers but is equally suited to a wide array of home fragrancing products.
Suggested Fragrance to Base Ratio:
To make diffuser oil, blend the fragrance oil with the Augeo until clear. Seal the container and allow it to stand for 2 to 3 days before use.
We suggest starting with 18% Fragrance to 82% Augeo base and adjusting from there depending on desired strength, as always your own testing is required.

RESUME: AUGEO will be considered toxic if you drink it ( and only if you drink 100 ml per day ), so labeling must state that ( only for new stock and if the result of the ongoing tests that Solvay is doing again will require that ). That is want means the new ( not final ) recommendations
Is still the best base for reeds
It is considered safe as used in reeds. The toxicity is only if you drink it in big doses.
Note: This new classification will only be applied to the new stock so you can use the previous SDS we have until we run out of stock and acquire new batches.
Below is the info from the supplier Solvay in detail
Date: July 14th, 2023
Object:
Self-classification: Updated toxicological information (AugeoⓇ Clean Multi | CAS 100-79-8)
Solvay follows the principles of Responsible Care and is therefore keeping its customers updated with the latest relevant information on its products.
Solvay would like to inform you that following a tonnage band upgrade and subsequent decisions on the testing proposal by the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) under the framework of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH), Solvay (Rhodia Operations-1) as a Lead Registrant was required to perform a
a number of scientific studies regarding the substance 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane-4-methanol (CAS 100-79-8), including a development study on rabbits (OECD 414).
As a result of this scientific OECD 414 study, adverse effects on the development of the tested species were observed (at the highest dosage) for the first time. This has triggered:
● An additional SELF-CLASSIFICATION as Reprotox, cat 2 (H361d) - more details in Annex 1;
● The update of the REACH dossier on April 24th, 2023;
● The decision to perform additional mechanistic studies to clarify those results that were not observed before in other studies performed on different species (rats).
A further update of the REACH dossier is forecasted in 2024: classification might be revised based on the outcome of the additional mechanistic studies.
The classification change is solely a consequence of a new toxicity study completed on the substance itself, as required for EU REACH regulations.
Further, the effects seen in this new study are only observed at relatively high doses via Oral route ( NOAEL for development toxicity: 300 mg/kg bw /day)
In the meantime, the Chemical Safety Report (CSR) has been updated on the basis of these effects and the most recent tonnage data.
All uses currently covered in our REACH dossier and displayed in our most recent extended Safety Data Sheet are safe.
The Safety Data Sheets will include this new classification and, when applicable to the European Safety Data Sheet, an extended section covering the risk assessment conclusions.
The quantity of 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane-4-methanol (CAS 100-79-8) that is triggering a change in classification for a formulation varies based on the country's regulation and should be reviewed case by case, with the company regulatory group.
For example:
≥ 3% is the general concentration limit for H361d in mixtures under EU CLP (EU).
≥ 0.1% is the classification threshold for H361d in mixtures under OSHA 2012 HCS (USA).
The future MSDS will look like this here
