Professional, highly concentrated oil-soluble liquid dye from French Color & Fragrance, developed for consistent and easy colouring of waxes.

FCF ECO/REACH™ liquid dyes combine high colour concentration with easy handling and excellent solubility, allowing candle makers to achieve anything from delicate tones to rich, vibrant shades simply by adjusting the amount of dye used.

Unlike powdered or flake colourants, the liquid format produces no dust, is easy to measure and blend, and is virtually free from insoluble matter.

General Dosage Guide

FCF provides the following general guidance for ECO/REACH liquid dyes:

Pale shades: 0.01% or less
Medium shades: approximately 0.01–0.02%*
Dark shades: approximately 0.10–0.15%

*The original FCF Technical Data Sheet prints the medium range as “0.02% to 0.01%”; this appears in that order in the manufacturer's document.

For accurate and repeatable production, FCF recommends measuring liquid dyes by weight rather than by drops.

How To Use

1. Melt the wax according to the wax manufacturer's instructions.
2. Once fully melted, add the required quantity of liquid dye.
3. Keep the processing temperature below 85°C.
4. Stir thoroughly until the colour is evenly dispersed.
5. Check the shade using a small sample of cooled wax.
6. Adjust gradually until the desired colour is obtained.
7. Add fragrance and continue according to your normal candle-making procedure.

Do not expose the dye to unnecessarily high temperatures or prolonged heating, as this may cause colour fading or alteration.

Color Stability

FCF recommends using a UV inhibitor for all colour applications.

Exposure to light, UV radiation, fragrance oils, and other formulation components can affect colour stability over time.

Factors that can affect the amount of dye required for the desired tone include:
– The opacity of the wax, whether it is vegetable or paraffin wax.
– Wax additives such as stearic acid and fragrance.

Technical Information

IMPORTANT

Because wax opacity, fragrance oils, additives, and dye concentration can all influence the final colour, always carry out a small-scale test before full production.

Any change in dye concentration can also affect the finished candle system, so appropriate candle and burn testing should always be performed before commercial production.
